The Songmobile

Hello dearest friends,

We have an idea. It’s called Songmobile and it starts tomorrow.

Since we last said hello we have watched the world change around us. In the last few weeks we have experienced deep heartache and dread AND innumerable blessings, just as you have. Like many of you, we have been struggling: with show and tour cancellations that have wiped out much of our income, with news cycle fatigue, and with the constant anxiety of our collective uncertain futures. We are lonely and scared.

We keep hearing about how this is the perfect time for us to create and have felt the intense pressure to keep up, to be productive and adaptable, to be creative, to keep to a rigorous schedule, to suddenly have abs, to start and finish a novel, to teach our dog to talk…but we’re finding it so difficult to feel inspired or motivated. But we want to do something, we want to help, we want to continue to bring you music that soothes and excites you.

Our favorite part of being musicians is you; how close we get to be to you when we play live. But how can we maintain that in-person element now? I f*cking know. The SONGMOBILE is how.

Will you try something with us?

If you’re in the Bay Area this weekend or next, we would like to come and play a private mini concert for you… from our car. We’ve rigged up a little PA system and we will roll down our window and serenade you from a great distance. You can stay sheltered in place by listening from inside your house with the window open, from your front porch or stoop, or from your second story balcony. We want to keep you safe and keep ourselves safe, so we will maintain our proper social distance, and then some, by remaining in our car.

How to sign up:

  • Click on one of the following links that corresponds to your location:

  • Pick a date and time that works for you

  • Enter your name, email address, home address, and cell phone (all info is confidential, of course)

  • We’ll confirm your date and time!

How we’ll make sure that everyone stays safe and healthy

To adhere to social distancing guidelines, we will not leave our car and we ask that you listen from inside your house with a window open, from your front porch/stoop, or in your driveway. This is a private performance for you and the people at your residence (this can mean a show for one person!); this is NOT an opportunity to gather a crowd or large group. Your health and safety is our utmost priority, so please let us know if you have any concerns by emailing us at contact@thesingerandthesongwriter.com

What it will look like when we arrive

We will let you know when we arrive by texting you. We have rigged up a small PA system that fits in our car. Depending on the configuration of your home, we can pull into the driveway or park on the street in front of your building. We will roll down our windows or open up our trunk. We will not be getting out of our car. We’ll perform between 15-30 minutes, depending on your availability and preference.

Donations

We will gratefully accept donations for these performances, and you can make these via Venmo (@singsong) or PayPal (thesingerandthesongwriter@gmail.com

*Not able to make a donation? We would be honored to play for you anyway - don’t let your financial situation limit your sign up.
